Dr Angela Bearth

Angela Bearth studied Social and Health Psychology at the University of Zurich and has a PhD in risk research. After working at the ZHAW Institute for Marketing Management, she returned to applied research at ETH Zurich at the Consumer Behavior group. Angela joined SCAHT part-time in October 2022. Her areas of expertise are the public awareness of toxicological science, decision making regarding hazardous household chemicals and human factors in regulation (e.g. public and expert judgment and decision-making regarding e.g. trace chemicals in consumer products, pesticide use in agriculture, genome editing). Over the years she has initiated several projects on chemical and technological risks, stakeholder engagement and risk communication, collaborating with universities, regulatory authorities and industry. She is president-elect of the Society for Risk Analysis Europe and vice-president of the Forum for Genetic Research.
