Dr Angela Bearth
Senior Social Scientist
Angela Bearth studied social and health psychology at the University of Zurich and earned her doctorate in the field of risk research. After working at the Institute for Marketing Management at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), she returned to applied research and joined the Consumer Behavior group at ETH Zurich. Since October 2022, Angela has been working part-time at SCAHT.
Angela's work focuses on the following topics: public perception of toxicological science, decision-making and behavior related to hazardous chemicals, and «Human Factors» in regulation (e.g. public and expert evaluations and decisions concerning trace substances in consumer goods, pesticide use in agriculture, or genome editing).
Over the years, she has initiated several projects on chemical and technological risks, stakeholder engagement, and risk communication—in collaboration with universities, regulatory authorities, and industry. She is President of the Society for Risk Analysis Europe, a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), and CEO of the private research institute HF Partners
