Serhii Kolesnyk, MD

Researcher

Serhii Kolesnyk graduated with distinction in 2007 from Bogomolets National Medical University, Ukraine, with an MD and specialization in public health, food safety, and toxicology. He began his career at L.I. Medved's Research Centre of Preventive Toxicology, Food, and Chemical Safety in Kyiv. By 2011, he led the Regulatory Science sector and conducted chemical risk assessments and shaping food and chemical safety regulations both nationally and internationally. From 2008 to 2015, he served as Secretary of the National Codex Alimentarius Commission of Ukraine – advisory body to government on food safety policy. Since 2018, Kolesnyk has championed NAMs and managed a GLP-compliant in vitro laboratory at the Research Centre.

In June 2022, Serhii joined the University of Basel's Molecular and Systems Toxicology group to study toxicity of oligomers from food contact materials. In January 2024, Serhii joined the SCAHT and contributes to the PARC project, focusing on artificial intelligence in chemical risk assessment.
